Prisma Ukraïna Seminar »Rethinking East European Studies in Times of Upheaval«
With a series of monthly online seminars (with an invited speaker, at least one commentator and an open discussion) we would like to discuss transregional perspectives of East European Studies in times of change and upheaval – in the context of Russia`s ongoing war in Ukraine. We would like to touch upon the most current issues (Nationalism, Religious Pluralism, Post-colonial perspectives for Eastern Europe) as well as the rather neglected ones (new approaches to the Jewish and Muslim past of Ukraine, comparative history of violence etc) – topics related not only to Ukraine but to all of Eastern Europe. We also would like to encourage a transregional approach by including comparative perspective (comparisons to ex-Yugoslavia, Arab spring, Latin American revolutions etc).
The seminar is curated and moderated by Dr. Andrii Portnov, Professor for Entangled History of Ukraine at the Europa-Universität Viadrina and director of Prisma Ukraïna – Research Network Eastern Europe at the Forum Transregionale Studien Berlin, and member of the research college Europäische Zeiten / European Times.
We start at 4pm CET in Zoom with You-Tube translation on ‘Entangled History of Ukraine’
